Both Broken And Kept

Both Broken And Kept

In the painful dark of the night

She walked through an endless meadow

A thousand scents mingled in the air

Bright colours of flowers were dimmed in the low light

But some still showed their hearts to the stars

Others hid them away as though they belonged only to the burning sun

For her the flowers seemed to feel

Like a thousand promises both broken and kept

So many were hidden away

Under a dusty carpet of lies they could be forgotten

And precious few still bloomed

A mark of trust and honour

Promises that had been faithfully kept

And for the stars the flowers were like people

So many remained closed and cold

Still holding all the potential to shine

But the stars had no voice to speak

So they stayed deathly silent

And the only sound left behind

Was her soft footsteps on the hard ground

~ Bluebell Rizzi

So I tried something a bit different, and I’m quite satisfied with the result! I might try writing like this more often ^ ^
