Fantasy

The glass fallen from the smooth fingers

Spread across the floor, remade

Into something so beautiful

Yet so prepared to harm

 

The smoke drifting through the air

 

A star-crossed lover of the night

Breathtaking, alive…

Dancing in her lungs

 

The ring wrapped around the finger

 

Glinting in the dull twilight

Flashing in the sharp sunlight

Pleases the unforgiving eye

 

The candle’s flame flows

 

So cruel to the wax below

Melting its heart effortlessly

And feeding it to the air

 

The stars stare longingly

 

Wishing to be on the earth

Weeping invisible tears

Waiting as their end draws near

 

He gently takes her hand

 

He tells her their love will never end

Whispers that she is perfect

And kisses her lips so softly

 

She starts, opens her eyes

 

Looks around her and sighs

The glass smiles at her pain

A breeze tugs on her hair;

The fantasy meets its sorrowful end
