I remember the fire

I saw the flames dance in your eyes

The heat pressing against us

Reaching for the sky

You set a stick on fire; wrote my name

Remember that day – when you said “I love you”

For the first time?

Of course you don’t, you weren’t there

Well I do, I do

I dropped the phone in shock

And wow, how happy I was

But we spent half the year apart

And I kept my head down wherever I would go:

Lest I should meet someone else

Then that fateful night occurred

When finally, we kissed

For the first and last time

After that night, I knew I had to set you free

If you knew this to be the reason

I think you’d be furious

But years from now, you’ll see

That I am a poison

And I would have destroyed you.
