I Don’t Want To Give Up On You

I Don’t Want To Give Up On You

Don’t look at me like that

Eyes searching mine

Disappointment carved on your face

Don’t talk to me like that

Voice flat, accusing

Disappointment wrapped around your words

It crumples me into a ball

Like a piece of paper in your fist

It makes me want to run away

To a place where nobody knows my name

Where they don’t know I’ve failed

That look pushes me off a cliff

That voice prises my fingers off the edge

It dashes my heart on the rocks below

One look tears me apart

I’d do anything for you

I just wish you knew that

You can only push someone away for so long

Until they give up

And I don’t want to give up on you

So don’t look at me like that

And don’t talk to me like that.
