The Devil’s Touch

The Devil’s Touch

I sit empty in a full room

Alone in the crowd

The colours are so bright

But all I see is black and white

An unseeing stare in my eyes

Sand trickles in the timer

The devil’s claws slide down my spine

Slowly but surely embracing me

And I won’t fight

The colours seeping out of my world

My thoughts slow, then halt

Underwater, no need for air

Just shut down

The lights are off and nobody’s home

Eyes unfocused, hearing gone

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, of course”

Don’t talk to me, because I’m not here

I’m somewhere dark, forgotten

At the bottom of a bottomless ocean

Where the devil clutches my hand

A friend or a foe?

I can’t feel his touch, so I don’t know

Please don’t let me go

There’s a way to bring me back

Remind me that you love me

I won’t be there right away

But the darkness makes me forget the light

And a spark is all I need.
