Watch Your Step

Watch Your Step

You’re not even here

But I feel it

The tone of your voice

The look in your eyes

Disappointment bordering on scorn

I didn’t ask for your judgement

So what’s it doing on this screen?

You can’t see inside my head

And even if you could

It would be a mere glance

All you know is what I tell you

You think you know everything?

You don’t

You really don’t

Look, I don’t want to fight

I’ll have to let this slide

But you should know that you hurt me

And I won’t forget

So watch your step

Or one of these days

You’ll set off a landmine in my head.
