Jealousy

“Oh, beware, my lord, of jealousy!
It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock
The meat it feeds on.”

~ William Shakespeare

Jealousy

Sometimes I read beautiful things

Until I hate them

Overdose on words

Until I despise every consistency

I listen to a song

Until every nuance makes my blood boil

I do this because I can

For no other reason than

I am searching for what I lack

Reading of love people share

Until I get so bitter

I could spit fire

I hate no one, never will

But envy is a curious drug

It turns your skin sickly green

Puts tears upon your face

Eats you from the inside out

Until you are a green stick

Ugly, alone, and cruel

Kind people appear as horned devils

And you want, want, want

Take and take

Giving nothing

A toxic danger zone

Left with nothing

And no one.
