Golden Oldies: Poem One

Hello, and welcome! This is the first poem of my Golden Oldies series 😉

You can read the introduction here.

I wrote this one when I was eleven. I’m not sure who “she” is, but it was written about a childhood sweetheart, of sorts. Unfortunately it didn’t last, but we had good times 🙂

Growing up together is difficult, and I tip my hat to those whose childhood friendships are still going strong ^ ^

Anyway, enjoy!!

Forever Is Not Always, Always Is Not Forever

I looked down at my feet
Waiting for hours just to see
Did she really mean it
When she messaged me
Then I would hear your voice
And spin round quickly
We looked at each other shyly
Then ran off to walk on the beach
The wind in our hair
Walking along without a care
But the next year
The innocence wasn’t there
Our differences woven in my hair
You were not the same
And nor was I
Then I asked myself the question
Am I still the only one?
