Invisible Girl

Invisible Girl

She stands there

With flaming locks of auburn hair

One eye the purest green

One the brightest blue

A scattering of freckles on her pale shoulders

She wears an enchanting smile

Her laugh is like tiny bells on the wind

When she sings, everyone listens

An angel?

What’s the catch!?

I hear you cry

Why haven’t you heard of her?

Well, there’s a simple reason

She’s trapped inside my head

She’s the one I long to be

Never heard, nor seen

Often she screams

Driven mad by her desire to be heard

But no one hears her, except me

She is half of me

But I cannot comfort her when she cries

If we were to become one

All our troubles would be gone

Those who had hurt me would grovel and weep

Those that scorned my love would cry forever

Songs would be written for me

Everyone would beg to hear me speak

But when I look in the mirror

It pains me to see

Someone completely different

Staring back at me

Brown hair, brown eyes

Not seen, nor heard

The invisible girl.

(Yes, there was a shameless Jolene reference)
