Heaving a deep sigh

Sad eyes looking away

Forming a reply

Don’t you wish you could be true

To someone other than yourself?

What you wouldn’t do

To shrug off your cloak of lies

That you hide behind

Free to be who you are

No secrets

Do you really want a life

Where your only friends

Are the skeletons in your closet?

But all you can do is lie

It’s all you know

Can’t or won’t?

All these questions

Never to be answered

Do other people see that person in the mirror?

Your secrets are hidden well

Like the dark side of the moon

Sometimes it’s a blessing

Others it’s a curse

Because maybe

If people saw inside your head

The world would end

In a puff of smoke.
