The original, slightly edited 😉

I can’t explain the pain

That gnaws at my insides

I can’t express it

No matter how hard I try

It can’t be described

Can’t be lessened

Even, it appears, by time

Nothing I do can make things right

I’m left here with my strings tangled

A puppet with no puppeteer

Gathering dust on this shelf

It takes one pin to burst a balloon

And, apparently

One person to take my world apart

Brick by brick

Why would you burn down

What you helped to build?

Well, it makes no difference to you

And now that I know

People, their hearts, their souls

Can be thrown away like broken dolls

Left as childhood toys rotting in the attic

I don’t think I’ll ever trust again

And if I do

It won’t be the way I trusted you

Nothing can be the same

Not anymore.
