Calm, normal, fine

Walking slow

Through the shop

Down the aisle

Hand darting out

Taking the gum from the shelf

Slipping it in your pocket

Walking out with a smile

Adrenaline coursing through your veins

Your one way ticket

To cloud number nine

Think you’re invincible

Swaggering down the street

Push the guilt away

Save it for another day

You’re the ruler now

Halfway down the road

Giving everyone a smile

Why are they looking like that?

Footsteps, loud

Hand on your collar

Pulling you back, taking your air

Seconds later

Face down on the tarmac

Blood on your lips

Bruise blooming on your cheek

Pockets emptied on the ground

Gum missing from their contents

You thought you were invincible

Now the salt of your tears

Stings the cuts on your face

And that ego

Is literally

Kicked to the curb.

  1. Did you post this twice or write something similar? Maybe it is just my ageing memory. Those naughty deeds can indeed come to haunt us and treatment by the law is, sadly, sometimes very brutal 🙂 🙂

    1. I may have posted something similar? I don’t remember, but I have a bad memory too 😀
Fortunately for me, this one isn’t inspired by experience, actually a Billie Eilish song 😀 ^ ^
