Remember how you shut me out?
I try to treat the memory
The way you treated me
But I can’t forget
No matter how hard I try
I wish I knew where the memory got its power
I’d go and get some for myself
Then I’d be strong enough
To make you kneel in the dirt before me
Like the memory does
It stabs me in the stomach
Watches me fall
And, laughing, raises the knife again
Until there’s nothing left.

  1. Memories can be lovely
    or they can be hurtful
    they can be bloody
    and sometimes
    we need them artful.

    Learn to accept them
    don’t just try to rebuff
    Because I know,
    you are strong enough
    and instead of fighting
    you will learn memories
    cannot keep you dying.
