The Festival

The Festival

Lost in the crowd
Music pounding like my heart
Feeling the beat in my chest
One part of a whole
As time slips by
Dancing like no one’s watching
Sand on my feet
The faint sound of the sea
Jumping up and down
In front of the stage
Screaming the words
To a song I know well
Until, later
Around 3am
My mind starts to drift
Tuning out
Eyes falling on the couples
A girl twirling under a boy’s arm
A guy kissing another guy
A man being made to dance
By his rather drunk lady friend
Loneliness came flooding in
Time to go.

  1. My type of poem, you build up the reader with excitement and then slip in the meaning right at the end. What a great choice for the build up, the festival, and the setting on the beach, lovely 🙂 🙂
