A Small Regret

A Small Regret

As you walked by,
Your eyes met
As you always do,
You lowered your gaze
Cursing yourself in your head,
Would it have hurt to smile?
But you didn’t smile,
No you never smile
Because shyness comes marching in,
Throwing you over its shoulder
Speaking of which,
You glanced over yours
Hoping to take it back,
To give your mischievous grin
Because you can be confident,
You truly can
But the time had passed,
You didn’t see him again
A moment taken,
Nothing shared
Not ventured,
Nor gained
Eyes locked,
And your souls?
Well, they were locked too.

Here’s my advice, guys:

If you have to choose between smiling or not smiling, then smile, every time.

You never know what might happen…

  1. I think this is the second piece recently where you set the scene and have a turning point. This one is so different though. In the previous one you used a beach party, set the image out then made the switch. Here you are not using an external scene but use the characters to make the switch. I really like how you have done that 🙂

    1. Thank you so much!!!! I’m really happy you liked it! 😀 ❤
I based this on a moment I had in the supermarket yesterday, I was writing it out in my head all the way home – and I'm pretty proud of how it turned out! ^ ^ ❤ ❤
