Don’t (1 Of 3)

Don’t

Thunder is shouting in the distance
Making its presence known
Normally struck with terror,
I’m calm
Not at peace
Quite the opposite actually
Walking round in circles
I’m too confused to care
My thoughts won’t settle
They change so often
Just like the wind tugging on the trees
You’re in my mind again
I’m not sure how you got there
It’s a skill you have, charming me
Walking me into traps
It wouldn’t matter so much
But you’re coming soon
And I don’t know what to do
My heart is drawn in two directions
Because there’s so much you don’t know,
And have yet to learn
It’s not fair to drag you into this
But I’m lonely, destructive
I’d hurt you,
Just for the pain I’d feel
Seeing your beautiful face fall
If I push you away
It’s because I love you
Please remember that
And don’t try to take my hand
Don’t hold me close
Don’t understand
Because I’m not strong enough to turn you down
And you’re not strong enough to taste the poison that I am.
