An Ode To Mother Nature

The destruction of beauty, I regret to say, seems to be a common practice among the people of this world. And we seem to have tainted the aura of the earth, so that it is made up of pain and suffering. Heartbreak, betrayal, death, cruelty, murder, war. The thing is, I just can’t help but think it’s unnecessary. Alright, maybe heartbreak is unavoidable. But betrayal, death, cruelty, murder and war are definitely not necessary.

Imagine that you and your family are captured, and you’re tied up and forced to watch them die horrible deaths. And you know what you would do to stop it – you’d break free from your ropes and have your revenge on the one killing them. That’s how I feel. Like the world is being destroyed in front of me, and I know how to stop it and yet… I’m powerless. But there must be hundreds of people that feel like me, all out there somewhere. So why aren’t we coming together and making a statement? Why are we all too scared to say what we think? It might be true that one person can’t make a difference. This blog post can’t save the world. But if all of us spoke up, came out of our corners with our arms crossed and our voices loud, I think we could join forces, and shake everyone by the shoulders.

Because that’s what I want to do. I want to grab everyone and shake them to within an inch of their life, until they open their eyes. You can’t go around ignoring what’s happening. The world doesn’t work like that. Going around kidding yourself, saying “The meat industry isn’t that bad, and hey, that war on TV isn’t near me, and what’s one person gonna change anyway?” – sooner or later something bad is going to happen. It’s time to take action.

Now you’re like, “What the hell can I do? I’m nobody!”
But the truth is, you’re not nobody.
Your voice matters.
You matter.

So try. I ask you, I beg you, I dare you. Next time you’re sitting there, listening to a conversation about something you know a lot about, don’t keep quiet. Don’t think to yourself, “I’m probably wrong, and my opinion doesn’t matter anyway” – sit up straight and say, “I care a lot about this, and I happen to know a lot about this subject, and I think…” – because the problem with you is that you’re not confident enough to share your vital, valid opinion. Tell your family, tell your friends. The more you speak, the clearer your voice becomes. So speak up. Do it for yourself, and do it for the world.

If you’re a blogger, write a post about it. There are so many amazing writers out there who could word all this much better than me. Hang on, though, wait a second. I might not be the best writer. But I’m still here, posting this. Because despite the ongoing destruction of the world, I have faith in humanity. I have faith in you.
I give you these words willingly, for free and for the taking. Do what you wish with them. You have endless options.

A) Click back to the cat videos
B) Take my advice
C) Comment your disgust at my views on life
D) Comment your agreement
E) Write your own post about this
F) Do whatever you want

By the way, one last thing. If you do post about this… use the tag #savetheworld – let’s make it big, guys. Come on.

Thank you for listening! ^ ^
