Sisterhood

This is for my best friend, Lena

Sisterhood

When we first met

I didn’t know, I had no clue

That four years on

You’d hold the key

The one I hid deep in the chasms of my heart

I didn’t realise it was gone

But it’s true, you hold it

The key to making me smile

When there are tears on my face

To pulling me out

Of the darkest ditch

To scaring my demons

And chasing them from under the bed

I’d stand tall at the end of the world

If I had you by my side

Because you are the yin to my yang

The black to my white

And the wings to my flight

I’ll stand by you

Until the end

So remember, my friend

Anytime you need me, I’ll be there

If all you can do is cry

I’ll be there to dry your eyes

The same way you’ve dried mine

Because we are sisters,

Through and through.
