Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm Syndrome

There’s no end

To your control

Especially now you’re gone

Places in my own garden

That I can’t go

Because you linger in the air

Songs I can’t sing

Melodies I can’t hear

Without crying

The walls you touched

Tainted forever

Like my skin

And this aching heart

Turning black

Shrivelled up

I hate your presence in my heart

I hate that if you came back

The temptation to forgive you

Would be strong enough to drown

All the pain you caused

Luckily for my whimpering pride

You seem to hate me

So that’s one thing

I needn’t worry about

By the way, I hate you

(Because I love you)

  1. An amazingly large number of relationships have elements of this nature. Fortunately most either get sorted or end before damage can be done. Brave you for including the issue in a poem 🙂 🙂
